Terry Cook
No. 25 Cajun Industries/HT Motorsports Toyota Tundra
Built Ford Tough 225 Presented by the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers
Kentucky Speedway

SPARTA, KY, (July 18, 2009)On a full load of Sunoco fuel,  Terry Cook was loose but as the fuel burned out of the tank, Cook could run faster times than the leaders of the Built Ford Tough 225 Presented by the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers at Kentucky Speedway.  Unfortunately as Cook was entering pit road under a green flag pit stop the extender pad on the brake pedal bent causing his foot to slide off and Cook to pass pit road.  Then a mishap with another competitor mangled the No. 25 Cajun Industries Toyota Tundra relegating him to a 15th place finish.

The No. 25 Cajun Industries/ HT Motorsports Toyota Tundra Race Recap

  • Cook qualified his No. 25 Cajun Industries Toyota Tundra in the 11th spot with a lap time of 31.452 seconds at a speed of 171.690 mph.
  • By the first caution on lap 34 Cook had worked his way into the eighth spot.  He told his Crew Chief Danny Rollins, “It needs to be tightened up.”  Rollins called him into the pits on lap 35 for fresh tires and again on lap 36 for fuel and a track bar adjustment.
  • By the second caution on lap 53 Cook said, “I feel like I have no front grip, it’s getting really loose getting in.”  The team chose to stay out on the race track since they had just pitted.
  • In the ensuing laps Cook had worked his way into the fifth spot and was running times faster than the leader.  Rollins called Cook into the pits under green on lap 100 for fuel only.
  • As Cook was trying to slow down off turn four to enter pit road at the designated speed, the extender pad on the brake pedal bent out from under his foot causing his foot to slide off.  Cook did not have enough time to slow down to enter pit road so he opted to stay on the race track for another lap.
  • On lap 101 Cook entered pit road.  The team filled his Tundra up with Sunoco fuel and sent him back on the race track in the 15th spot.
  • Unfortunately on lap 110 the third caution of the day came out catching Cook one lap down.  However it gave the team a chance to change four tires and make an adjustment to help his loose condition.  Cook was awarded the lucky dog and restarted 15th.
  • Cook had worked his way to the eighth spot by lap 128.  Then battling for the sixth position Cook and another competitor tangled coming off turn two.  Cook was sent spinning and before he could get straightened out another competitor T-boned him behind the driver side door.
  • Cook entered pit road with his mangled truck on lap 134.  The team changed four tires and looked under the rear of Cook’s Tundra.  They called him behind the wall because the track bar was bent.  They put a jack underneath the rear to straighten out the track bar and sent Terry back on the track telling him to be cautious.
  • Cook went on to finish the event in the 15th position although he was off the pace of the field due to his distorted rear end in his Toyota Tundra.

Ron Hornaday won the Built Ford Tough 225.  Mike Skinner, Matt Crafton, Timothy Peters and Aric Almirola followed in the top five.
