WinStar World Casino 400
Texas Motor Speedway

FT. WORTH, TX, (June 5, 2009)Terry Cook and his HT Motorsports Racing Team fought so hard to get the balance right on the No. 25 Cajun Industries Toyota Tundra in the WinStar World Casino 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.  The team, with their never give up attitude, made numerous changes during the course of the race trying to help Cook’s extremely loose condition but unfortunately never got it quite right.    Cook fought on with a flattened right side and mangled rear end, and the team pulled out every stop they knew before Cook went on to finish the event in the 20th position.

The No. 25 Cajun Industries/ HT Motorsports Toyota Tundra Race Recap

  • Cook qualified the No. 25 Toyota Tundra in the 22nd position at a speed of 174.842 mph.
  • In the opening laps Cook managed to pick up three positions but told Crew Chief Danny Rollins, “This truck is way too loose.  It is tail wagging happy when I get back on the throttle.”
  • On lap 40 the first caution of the day came out.  Rollins called Cook into the pits on lap 42 for fresh Goodyear Wranglers and back in on lap 43 for Sunoco fuel.  The team adjusted the air pressures in the tires and made track bar and wedge adjustments.
  • Cook restarted on lap 46 in the 17th position.  Just a few laps later he said, “It is wicked loose on entry.  It feels looser than last time.”
  • On lap 86 Cook, unable to hold off the leader due to his loose condition, fell one lap down to the leader.
  • Then in the ensuing laps teams started green flag pit stops.  Cook entered pit road on lap 98 for fuel only.  While filling up the tank with Sunoco fuel, the team made adjustments to the track bar and wedge.
  • Rollins was trying to gain all the track position he could by not pitting for tires immediately, but due to the leader’s lap times compared to Cook’s, he had to call his driver to pit road on lap 105 for fresh Goodyear Wranglers.
  • Then on lap 122 a caution came out for debris and not all of the top 10 running order had pitted yet thus catching Cook, who had pitted, another lap down.  The team used the time to pit once again for tires and Sunoco fuel.
  • Cook restarted on lap 126 in the 19th spot.  Several laps later he was still battling the loose condition and tapped the outside wall flattening the side and knocking the rear end over on the No. 25 Cajun Industries Toyota Tundra.
  • He brought the Tundra to the attention of his crew on lap 158 under green-flag conditions and the team pulled the fender off of the tire, changed right side tires only and sent Cook back into the racing action.  The team assessed the tires to see the right front tire was showing cords.  Cook went on to finish the event in the 20th spot.

Todd Bodine won the WinStar World Casino 400 in Texas.  Matt Crafton, Colin Braun, Johnny Benson and Rick Crawford followed in the top five.
