Being the Quiet Contender: “I’m glad to be known as the quiet contender actually. I mean it would be nice to be the loud one winning all the races but realistically we are just taking each race one step at a time and ticking them off as we go. We are striving for a win each week of course and have been pretty close a couple of times. We just have to work on putting the whole race together as a package. We want to make ourselves known for being successful. And I have to pat the team on the back so far because they are preparing the best Toyota Tundras we have ever raced and the performance shows. It’s nice going to a race track where you can drive high, low or in the middle. The trucks are just set up that well. It’s attributed to the hard work and late nights they are putting in but once we drive this Tundra to victory lane, all the other hard things are erased. We will get there, I’m sure of it.”
Dover’s Monster Mile: “You have to set the truck up to turn from the center off in Dover. Whether it be top or bottom on the track, making it turn from the center off is the most important thing to winning. A lot of the teams prefer to run the bottom but if your truck will turn from the center off then you can run higher on that track if you want and still win the race. We will work on that most of the practices I’m sure.”
Autism Awareness at Dover: “Once again this year we are able to get more publicity for Autism by my teammate David Starr’s truck at Dover International Speedway. It’s such a wonderful cause and we were thrilled to be a part of it in Kansas. It’s encouraging to see our extended family of NASCAR, being teams, fans, tracks, TV and the sanctioning body, all come together for such great ways to help spread the word. You don’t realize how powerful all of us are until we partner together and see the wonderful results. In this day and age, we need to focus on more ways to come together for the good of everyone.”
