News and Notes:

  • The Texas native will be making his eighth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Dover International Speedway this Friday.
  • Starr has one pole, two top-five and five top-10 finishes on the concrete oval.
  • The new dad has no DNF’s at this particular track.
  • Starr will be racing Chassis number 15 at Dover.  This particular Toyota Tundra raced in California (fourth) and Atlanta (17th) earlier this season.
  • In 122 speedway starts (one-to-two mile tracks), Starr has three wins, three poles, 27 top-five and 56 top-10 finishes.  He has led 150 laps on this particular type of track.
  • Once again the HT Motorsports team will have the Autismspeaks.org logos proudly displayed in prominent locations on the No. 24 Tundra for the AAA Insurance 200 race.

Autismspeaks.org: Team Owner Jim Harris and Starr’s teammate Terry Cook have both been affected by Autism in one of their family members.  The organization graciously helped raise awareness in April at Kansas Speedway for the Autismspeaks.org organization and it is once again placing the logos on David Starr’s Toyota Tundra this weekend hoping to spread the word.  Starr said, “It really helped open my eyes up a lot when I learned that people so close to me had been affected by Autism.  Knowing that one day my son could be faced with something like this I wanted to learn more about it.  It affects 1 out of 150 kids being diagnosed with this every day.  It could change your life drastically.  Just to know the early warning signs can really make a difference in the diagnosis of it.  I’m so glad to use our race vehicle as a champion for such a wonderful organization.”

Dover Top 10’s: “You have to be really calculated to work your way through the field at Dover.  Everything is so fast and aggressive there, so you have to be on your toes.  Some drivers charge the corners hard there and some don’t.  It’s all in your particular style of driving but the key is to get your truck as free as it can be and make it turn through the center.  We will see everyone fighting that all day.  I’ve had success at Dover, won a pole and a couple of top fives but you never want to settle for that.  There is always more to competitors.  I know our Tundra will be strong this weekend and I’m looking forward to it.”
